One of our challenges during the pandemic was losing our Sunday gathering space. This hasn’t been all bad though because it’s caused us to lean into prayer and engagement differently as a church community and led to establishing our HUB ministry centre in Tuxedo Park, late in 2021. Beginning in October 2022 you’ll find us on Sundays next door to the HUB, at the Philadelphia Church, for our worship gatherings at 4pm. Come 15 minutes early for good coffee and a chance to meet others. There’s plenty of street parking nearby on Sundays.
In our worship gatherings you can anticipate hearing from lots of different voices, prioritizing kids participation, experiencing heart worship, keeping the table of Jesus central to our gathering, being equipped through the teaching of scripture, and leaning into the Holy Spirit in prayer ministry. We hope to see you soon!
“Church is not the Sunday gathering. Rather, we are God’s people journeying together as signposts of Christ’s kingdom at work in the world”.
And We Keep Growing.
Many people discovered us online during the pandemic and found their church home. It’s been especially fun to eventually meet new folks in person at a backyard firepit, or on a walk, or at a special event and discover they look ‘the same, but different’ than on zoom!
Since we opened our Hub in Tuxedo Park at the end of 2021 we’ve had many more opportunities to get to know newer folks in person.
We’re back to gathering all together in one service, Sunday afternoons at 4pm at Philadelphia Church, next door to our Hub!
All our Sundays start with real good coffee (honest!), and include sung worship, communion, teaching and prayer.
Kids have their own learning time after sung worship and communion with the rest of us. You can learn more about Epic Kids here!
JLYS (Jesus Loves You Society)
JLYS is a non-profit family centre, supporting single moms and their kids who struggle financially in Calgary. Many people in our church serve as part of the weekly team at JLYS. Daniel Schuster is the director of JLYS, and he was also one of the founding pastors of Epic. This has been a primary place Epic folks intentionally connect with marginalized people in Calgary, building community and sharing the love of Jesus. Susan Brandt, one of our partners in mission, is part of the staff team at JLYS and it is a joy for us to support her in her vocational work.
Giving
As a church community we value sharing our financial resources as part of our worship. It’s how we are able to support our partners in mission, pay our staff for their valuable work, creatively care for our kids and youth, enjoy good coffee on Sundays, and so much more.
